Software for Calculation of Involute Splines according to ANSI B92.1

(C) Copyright 2000-2024 by HEXAGON Software, Berlin

WN4 calculates dimensions, tolerances, dimension over pins, stress and life expectation for Involute Splines according to ANSI B92.1 and ANSI B92.1b. Basically, WN4 uses imperial units inch, psi, lb-in. Metric units can be configured as well. WN4 calculates the fit types "Flat Root Side Fit", "Fillet Root Side Fit" and "Major Diameter Side Fit". Pressure angle can be 30, 37,5 or 45. Normal Circular Pitch ranges from 2.5 / 5 to 128 / 256.

Flank Clearance, Tolerances

WN4 calculates tolerances for diameters, space width and tooth thickness according to ANSI B92.1. If you use calculation to ANSI B92.1b, the fit class can be entered. When entering centerline runout of internal and external spline, WN4 calculates required effective clearance.

WN4 calculates dimension over pins, span measurement and tooth thickness. Pin diameter and number of teeth measured may be changed.

Stress Calculation

WN4 calculates compressive stress, spline teeth shear stress, hoop stress, bending stress, torsional stress, and equivalent stress according to "SAE Design Guide for Involute Splines". Material, application factors and life expectation coefficients can be entered directly, or calulated by WN4.

Production Drawing

Drawing tables with spline dimension data according to ANSI B92.1 together with a spline draft may be printed or loaded with CAD via DXF-/IGES interface.

Tooth drawing

WN4 generates true-scale drawings of internal and external involute spline as DXF/IGES files for CAD Import.

Hard- and Software requirements

WN4 is available as 32-bit or 64-bit application for Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 7.

Scope of Delivery

WN4 program, user manual (pdf), perpetual license for unlimited time use.
