LG2 – Software for Hydrodynamic Plain Journal Bearings

LG2 calculates hydrodynamic plain journal bearings with 360° enclosing angle under steady-state conditions according to DIN 31652. The software calculates self-lubricated bearings under ambient heat flow by convection as well as forced lubrication bearings with heat removal by the lubricant.

Bearing temperature or lubricant outlet temperature are calculated iterative according to DIN 31652 part 1. LG2 calculates temperature-dependent viscosity of ISO VG lubricants to DIN 51563. Sommerfeld number, friction coefficients, eccentricity, lubricant flow and film thickness are calculated according to DIN 31652 part 2. LG2 suggests limit values for allowable minimum film thickness, surface pressure and bearing temperature according to DIN 31652 part 3.

LG2 calculates ISO tolerances of shaft diameter for optimal bearing play according to DIN 31652.

Enter only radial load and shaft speed, LG2 calculates dimensions of bearing and shaft, bearing clearance and tolerances. The program selects forced lubrication, if required, and chooses lubricant according to requirements of film thickness and friction.

Enter bearing load and dimensions, tolerances, roughness and thermal coefficient of bearing and shaft. LG2 can calculate min and max values of bearing diameter by input of ISO tolerances, and tolerances of shaft diameter from suggested bearing clearance according to DIN 31652.

LG2 handles lubricants ISO VG 2 to ISO VG 1500. If you choose forced lubrication, input of lubrication hole, lubrication groove or lubrication relief is required, as well as lubricant inlet pressure and lubricant inlet temperature. For self-lubricated bearings (heat removal by convection), ambient temperature, surface of bearing case and heat transfer coefficient are required.

FED11 - Software für Spring Locks

A new software FED11 calculates bending stress and deflection of spring locks. Spring material can be selected from material database. Wire section may be round, rectangular, square or elliptic.

Curves of bending stress and deflection can be displayed as polar diagram.

FED2+ Recalculation

LK=L0-LH1-LH2 and L0=LK+LH1+LH2 are calculated after changing body length or spring length. Loop height was constant. Now you can configure FED2+ to recalculate loop length when changing L0, LK, n or loop position phi.

FED6 - Diagrams

W01, W02 and W0c have been added to spring energy diagram. f0, f1 and f2 were added to the natural frequency diagram.

FED7 - Input of Spring Sections

When entering spring sections, spring draft is drawn on background.

WN1 - Material Database

Aluminium and magnesium die cast, brass, bronze and copper alloys were added to the material database of the WN1 press fit calculation program.

WN2, WN4, WN5

Resolution of the involute drawing can be configured now.

At CAD->Tooth Shape->Config you could change addendum modification for tooth shape drawing.

WN4 - Tooth Contact Drawing

Tooth contact drawing had to be corrected, because tolerances were not considered, root diameter and outside diameter for involute splines with pressure angle of 37.5° and 45° were calculated without addendum modification. Tooth shape drawing is now based on average tolerance of the selected tolerance class. At CAD->Tooth Shape->Config you could change addendum modification for tooth shape drawing.

Windows XP

All HEXAGON programs may be installed on Windows XP. Dialogue Window Size must be configured to 102%, because window frames of XP are wider than under Windows 2000.
